Dare to Dream
By Oluwole Nicholson, eeExperience.com Editor in Chief
Welcome to eeExperience.com. As I think of the launch of this online community,
a quote from George Bernard Shaw comes to mind.
"Some
men see things as they are and ask why. Others dream of things that never were
and ask why not."
Even though this statement is more than seventy years old, it remarkably
captures not only the creation of eeExperience.com but also the main innate
characteristics that make us engineers. We have dreamt and continue to make
those dreams reality. With the launch of eeExperience.com, there has been a
dream. The question has been asked and now eeExperience.com is the answer.
In May of 2004, Electronic Products
Magazine and the Hearst Electronics Group envisaged the creation of a new
revolutionary community by students and for students where the engineers of
tomorrow can meet the electronic product technology of today. After the concept
was born, a number of IEEE Student Branches were contacted and New York
Institute of Technology (NYIT) answered that call and thus began the mammoth
task of creating this community by fall of 2004. A team comprising very
talented students of NYIT working under the guidance of the Executive Editor of
Electronic Products Magazine gave up their Summer Vacation in order to achieve
this goal. Now a major milestone has been reached with the launch of the beta
site of eeExperience.com, an online community by students, and for students. On
this website you can read and publish papers and articles, discover or present
new technologies, find a job or learn how to apply for one, and interact with
the industry and one another.
Engineers are the trend setters but are never the trend. They push the limits
but never see them and are only limited by the dreams that they can conceive.
This community will equip engineering student with the means and opportunity
that they need to make their dreams reality. Dare to dream!!
We are looking for students to join us as editors, reporters, writers, and of course, readers. If you would like to become part of this exciting endeavor, simply click on this link Volunteer Form or contact me at kmills@eeexperience.com.
